Kissan Bhavans for farmers on anvil: Rashpal | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 27: The state government has decided to construct two Kissan Bhavans, one each in Jammu and Srinagar. The Bhavans are aimed to provide a platform to the farmers, who could discuss various agrarian issues and find out solutions of the same at a common place. “Two Kissan Bhavans, one each in Jammu and Srinagar, will be constructed shortly to cater to the needs of farming community of the state…. Possibilities will be explored to identify a centrally located piece of land in the twin capitals for convenience of the visitors,” Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Kissan Board, Rashpal Singh said while interacting with a group of farmers from Kashmir region. The farmers from Valley are currently on a week-long tour to Jammu division organised by the Agriculture Department under Technology, Human Resource Development. Initially, accommodation facilities to the visiting farming community will be provided on nominal charges. However, gradually the accommodation fee would be waived off at a later stage. Singh said that the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has constituted the Kissan Board to provide a single platform to the farming community to redress their grievances in a hassle free manner. He assured that entire farming community, dealing with any of the trade in the agriculture sector, is entitled for free services under one roof through this board. Kissan Board Vice Chairman said there is a vast potential available in Kashmir division for boosting the floriculture, for which, market is easily available. He said that the daily requirement of flowers in the country has been assessed around Rs 5,000 crore to which Kashmir division can become a major partner provided that the cultivation of the flowers was adopted by the farmers there.
