MMBA submits memorandum of demands to Guv | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 27: A deputation of the Mubarak Mandi Bachao Andolan (MMBA) met the Governor, N N Vohra, at Raj Bhavan here today and presented a Memorandum of their demands to him. The 6-member deputation led by Narsingh Dev Singh Jamwal, Convenor of the MMBA, demanded handing over of the Mubarak Mandi Complex, Jammu to the Archaeological Survey of India for its restoration and preservation as a heritage complex and it should not be allowed, under any circumstances, to be used for a commercial purpose. The deputation put forth their suggestions for the restoration and preservation of the Mubarak Mandi heritage Complex and had extended discussions with the Governor in this regard. The Governor gave a patient hearing to the deputation, which comprised Dr Jatinder Udhampuri, Mohan Singh Slathia, Gianeshwar Sharma, Udey Chand and Hari Chand Jalmeria Advocate. The Governor said that he would address the Chief Minister to convey their concerns. A deputation of the Shaheed Major Rohit Sharma Memorial Trust, Mandi, Poonch, also called on the Governor last evening and presented to him a number of development-centric demands of the area. The deputation led by the President of the Trust, Ali Mohammad Mir, thanked the Governor for providing 50 sewing machines to this NGO for distribution among the widows of the area to enable them to earn their livelihood. The Principal Secretary to the Governor, R K Goyal was present on the occasion.
