Bhalla inaugurates multipurpose community hall | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 27: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today said that the Government was embarking on a comprehensive plan to improve the living standard of weaker sections of the society adding that special focus was being laid on extending all basic amenities to both rural and urban poor. The Minister was addressing a large gathering after inaugurating Rs 47 lakh multipurpose community hall at Sigligarh Kullian Govindpura in Chatha, here today. Bhalla said the Government has earmarked Rs. 7 crore for construction of multipurpose community halls in the basties of weaker sections like Barzalla, Bahu Fort, Shanker Colony in Channi Rama, Nai Basti, Gangyal, Channi Himmat, Industrial Estate in Digiana, Bhour Kothey etc. Responding to the people’s demands, Bhalla informed that the Government has earmarked Rs. 5.5 crore for digging of 50000 gallon discharge capacity tube well at Sumali Mohalla besides laying of water supply pipes in Old Satwari, Hakal, Chatha Mill, Chatha Farm, Raipur Satwari and Bhour Camp so that the people do not face drinking water scarcity in summer season. For road widening from Karan Bagh to Chatha Mill upto SKUAST-J, the Government has assigned Rs 4.92 crore adding that on the completion of the project, the problem of traffic congestion in the areas would be solved. At Sanjay Nagar and Nanak Nagar Sector-5, the Minister launched works for upgradation of twelve lanes and drains costing Rs. 38.50 lakh. Bhalla also informed that a comprehensive plan has been formulated for up-gradition and expansion of Jammu airport to provide all infrastructural facilities to the passengers. He sought cooperation of the people in implementing the development programmes on ground level.
