JKGUF alleges harassment from administration | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 27: Jammu and Kashmir Gujjar United Front (JKGUF) today alleged that community members are being harassed by the administration. Addressing a meeting of the executive members of the front, its president, Anwar Choudhary alleged that nomadic Gujjars are being harassed, uprooted from their habitats and hounded by the police as well as people. “Some serious steps should be taken by the administration so that community does not feel harassed and government should make arrangements for permanent settlement of the tribal people”, he demanded. He said that at times even the police does not come to rescue of the community if the complaints are registered. “We hope that discrimination against us will end and administration will hear and solve our problems”, he said. Most of the members expressed their concern over the plight of nomadic Gujjar in the state. They alleged that all rules and regulation with regards to appointment and promotion of the employees have been violated when it comes to the promotion of the gujjar workers. Front has alleged that tribal community has always faced neglect from the successive governments and despite promises made to mitigate their problems, no steps have been taken in this regard. “ Every Chief Minister had made promises to provide equal share to us in development, but they have never been implemented seriously”, he alleged. Those who attended the meeting included Arshad Choudhary, Hamid Choudhary, Amir-Ud-Kasana, Bashir Ahmed Khatana, Abdul Rashid Mandana, Modh. Aslam, Rehmat Ali, Ghulam Qadir Choudhary, Haji Hyder Ali and Haji Abdul Aziz.
