Seminar on ‘Health and the high altitude milieu’ inaugurated at 153 GH | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, April 27: To commemorate Golden Jubilee Year, a two days seminar on Continuing Medical Education (CME) & Update titled ‘Health and the High Altitude Milieu’ by 153 General hospital and the High Altitude Medical Research Centre (HAMRC) was started at Leh today. The national level seminar was inaugurated by Lt Gen Ravi Dastane , VSM, General Officer Commanding, Fire and Fury Corps. In his inaugural address , Lt Gen Dastane urged the scientists and clinicians to synergize their efforts to improve the health and quality of life of the soldiers deployed in the snow bound peaks of our frontiers. Two books tited ‘High Altitude Health Advisory for Combatants’ and ‘An Updated Primer for Medical Officers in high Altitude’ were released during the inaugural function. 153 General Hospital has the distinction of being the highest multispeciality hospital in the world. The hospital is a tertiary care centre for the entire Ladakh region and provides comprehensive medical care not only to the troops and paramilitary forces but also the local civil populace of this remote Ladakh region.
