Sharma asks people to elect honest candidates for Panchayats | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 27: Former chairman Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangthan J&K and former MLA Ashok Sharma has urged upon the voters to exercise their franchise in favour of those candidates who are having clean image and are dedicated to serve the people at the grass root level to establish Panchayati Raj in J&K state. Sharma while addressing series of public meetings in Rajouri District during his campaign to educate the voters on the theme why and how to exercise franchise to establish local self Govt enshrined in the Indian constitution, visualized by the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi and visioned by Rajiv Gandhi. Former Chairman of J&K Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sang appealed the voters to reject the candidates having criminal background and those involved in corrupt practices, to reap the fruit of self governance. He also stressed upon the union and State Govt to incorporate 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendments in J&K to give meaningful strength to the Panchayati Raj in J&K as has been done in other parts of the country. Sharma while expressing concern on non- fixation and non payment of salary to the out going sarpanches and sitting fee to such panches during 2000-2005 urged upon the Govt to fix the same.
