Disciplinary Committee serves show cause notice to suspended BJP MLAs, asked to reply by May 7 | State vice president to be slapped show cause notice …..? | | JAMMU, Apr 27: The BJP Disciplinary Committee headed by Prof O P Kohli national general secretary of the Party has served show cause notice to seven suspended Party MLAs who cross voted in Legislative Council elections On April 13 to ensure the victory of Congress and NC candidates by defying the Party whip. The party has given time up to May 7 to these MLAs to reply the Show Cause notice failing which the High command will initiate disciplinary action in accordance with Party constitution against them. In one more significant development related with the crosss vote controversy , a senior leader holding the position of vice president in the state unit is likely to be served show cause notice for his alleged involvement in the cross voting issue According to a Party spokesman the Show Cause notices were served to them yesterday evening by Prof Kohli. The Party legislators who were served the notice included the MLA Jammu West Prof Chaman Lal Gupta who was the leader of BJP’s Legislative Party, MLA R S Pura, Prof Garu Ram, MLA Raipur Damana, Bharat Bhushan, MLA Hiranagar, Durga Dass, MLA, Basholi, Jagdish Raj Sapolia, MLA Reasi, Baldev Raj Shaarma and MLA, Banni, Master Lal Chand. Maintaing that BJP is committed to take disciplinary action against all the seven MLAs sources close to Party High Command in Union Capital said that there is no secondary opinion in it. The decision to suspend the seven MLAs was taken by Party’s Parliamentary Board which is the highest decision making body and there will be no second thinking on it, sources added. Sources were rubbishing the reports published in a section of the press in this regard said, the BJP is a ``party with difference’’ and it can’t afford any indiscipline by any member how senior and prominent he may be. There is discipline for every one whether he is the head of the party or its grass root level worker and every one has to respect the Party directives. Meanwhile state BJP also issued a rejoinder today to a press report published in a section of the press that BJP may roll back the decision regarding suspension of its seven legislators as Party was under a tough pressure from within. The Party while denying the report has appealed the media not to try to create a misunderstanding among the masses by publishing such stories. How can Party afford to close its eyes and take a lenient view of the action of its seven Legislators in the state who backstabbed the party and breached the peoples faith and trust vote by indulging into cross voting practice, said a senior leader of Party in new Delhi. All the seven MLAs have to produce themselves before the Disciplinary Committee and explain their position, sources added. It may be recalled that the Party cadres in the state have also sought action against the MLAs who took part in cross voting to ensure the victory of coalition candidates. The people in the state especially the Party workers have taken the serious exception to the cross voting episode and demanded stern action against the erring MLAs. The BJP activists apprehend that in case High Command tries to bury the issue the Party will face public wrath in the forthcoming elections to Jammu Municipal Corporation, sources said
