Bhalla kick starts Rs.21.25 lakh development works | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 28: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today said that Government has taken several exemplary steps for developing all the city peripheral and rural areas by providing drinking water, electricity, education, health, road connectivity, better lanes and drains. Interacting with the residents of Digiana after launching Rs 21.25 lakh works in the area, Bhalla said 18500 sft lanes and drains would be upgraded in Ward No 45 and its vicinity. He asked the executing agency to complete all the allied works within stipulated time frame by using quality material. He asked the people not to encroach the Government land adding such places are meant for the development of civic amenities. To deal with water scarcity in Digiana area, Bhalla said a 25000 gallon discharge tube well has been proposed at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.5 crore for the area . For improving the power scenario in Sanjay Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Gangyal, Preet Nagar and Digiana, he said a receiving station at a cost of 3.5 crore is under progress at Sanjay Nagar . He hoped that on the commissioning of the project power scenario in the area will be improved to a great extent. The Minister informed that the Government has prepared a comprehensive plan for creation of parking slot at Sanjay Nagar near cremation ground for which it has earmarked Rs 4.47 crore. He said after the construction of the proposed parking slot, the problem of traffic congestion in Gandhi Nagar and its adjoining areas would be overcome especially at the cremation ground in Shastri Nagar where people face lot of problem.
