| Petrol tanker driver, cleaner burnt alive | | College student killed, 25 others injured in road mishaps | | Jammu, Nov 18 Driver and cleaner of a patrol tanker were burnt alive, when their vehicle met with an accident, along Jammu-Srinagar Highway, while a college student was killed and twenty-five others were injured in two separate road mishaps in Jammu district, today. Official sources said that a patrol tanker, which was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu, skid off the road and fell into a gorge at Batri Chashma near Ramban, late last evening. The patrol tanker reportedly caught fire resulting in the on the spot death of its drive and cleaner. “The tanker, carrying about 12000 liters of patrol, fell into a deep gorge and it caught fire”, Deputy Inspector General of Police Doda-Udhampur range L Mohanty told News Agency of Kashmir, adding, “The vehicle was completely reduced to ashes and no body was recovered from the spot”. The tanker has not even left any clue of its registration number and police was investigating about the identification of its driver and cleaner. Meanwhile, a mini bus turned turtle near Gumat Chowk in the heart of Jammu city, this afternoon, leading to the death of one passenger and injury to about ten others. Police said that driver of ill fated matador tried to make a sharp cut of the vehicle leading to the mishap. The deceased has been identified as Ishwi D/o Nirmal Singh R/o Akhnoor. The girl, a student of Women College, was reportedly returning back from the college. It was learnt that the most of the injured were student. Condition of three injured passengers was said to be critical. Another mini-bus, JK02AD-1954, met with an accident at Grota area of Akhnoor tehsil. Sources said that the mini-bus was on its way from Jammu to Grota, when it met with the accident. At least fifteen passengers were injured, six of them critically in the mishap.
