State government failed to execute developmental works: Mehbooba | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, April 28: PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has said while the state government has failed to implement any development plan throughout the state. Certain areas have been apparently marked out for a kind of development “apartheid”. Addressing a well attended meeting of party workers at Islamabad ( Anantnag) today she said people were being punished for having a government that has earned highest disapproved rates in the history of the state through its inefficient performance. Mehbooba said not only the rural areas but even the Srinagar city was experiencing a night mare in terms of infrastructure and services. But, the problems inflicted on Anantnag and other such areas of historic importance are an indicator of the low thinking of the present coalition. She said the roads in the town look as if they have been ploughed and no wonder that recently the people of areas adjacent to the town had planted trees over their roads in a symbolic but telling protest against government apathy. She said the state has been thrown back into medieval times within a span of one and half years. She said the heavy dose of funds earmarked for roads has apparently vanished into thin air. Referring to the acute power crisis Mehbooba said that it looks like a conspiracy against Kashmir as inspite of heavy snow falls, rains and rising level of water electricity is still not supplied to the customers. She said wherever she went into the rural areas she was informed that power is hardly ever available in most areas. Describing Islamabad town as one of the most historic places in Kashmir she said its dignity and development were seriously compromised by the present government. She urged the administration to wake up to the urgent requirements of the town and areas around it to provide some relief to the people. The PDP president expressed concern at the shelving of projects like a medical college for Anantnag and construction of a flyover at Khanabal. She said these projects need to be revived immediately for the betterment of the area.
