| Peer Hussain for making state energy rich, | | |
JAMMU, NOV 18 Emphasizing on expeditious completion of power project without compromising with quality and other set parameter, the minister of State for Power and Health Peer Mohd. Hussein has asked engineers to redouble their efforts and ensure time bound completion of all under construction power projects. Power he said serves as engine for giving fillip to socio-economic sector and as such engineers and offices of the department have to shoulder major responsibility in the development and proper technical management of its infrastructure. The minister said this while inspecting under construction receiving station at Jhallas and Mendhar during the second leg of his tour to twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch here on Friday. Jhallas II 3.15 MVA receiving station taken up at a cost of Rs. 85.24 lakh under APDRP scheme will feed Krishna Ghati area and augmentation of Mendhar sub station from existing 3.15 MVA to 6.30 MVA being constructed at a cost of Rs. 56.76 lakh would significant increase voltage in Mendhar town and its adjoining villages. Scheduled to be completed by the end of current financial year these projects will help in improving reliability on power in Poonch district. Later, addressing a public meeting at Mendhar the Minister sought cooperation of people in strengthening the department by way of paying timely tariffs and making judicious use of electricity. He said government has initiated various measures in right earnest to make the state energy rich and expects people to contribute by desisting from power pilferage and wastage of power. Mr. Hussain asked consumers to adopt meter installation on voluntary basis and help the government in smooth implementation of power reforms programme. He said power supply in most of the metered areas has been rationalized with focus to provide uninterrupted electricity to consumers. Among others, MLC Basharat Bukhari, superintendent engineer Mr. C.L.Gupta, and other functionaries of the department accompanied him. |
