JMC seals banquet hall

JAMMU, April 29:
The Enforcement wing of Jammu Municipal Corporation continued the drive against the violations and sealed a banquet hall at main road Bantalab here today.
Led by Chief Enforcement Officer, the JMC staff sealed Satyam Palace Banquet Hall owned by Sat Pal Singh son of Bhim Singh which was being run unauthorizedly.
The said sealing operation has been conducted in the presence of Duty Magistrate and with the help and Co-operation of Police force from Chinore Police Post, Jammu.
Besides this, the team while continuing Anti Encroachments drive to clear the footpaths and pavements as well as parts of roadsides in the various parts of city visited the areas of BC Road, KC Chowk, Indira Chowk, SMGS Hospital Road. During the drive about 4 trucks loads of goods including Reharies, Foot Wears, Iron Windows, Beds, Cycles, Utensils, Umbrella, Drums, Frames, Stools, Benches, Counters, Chairs etc., which were placed by the shopkeepers and vendors by encroaching upon footpaths.
Apart from this, the Health Officer of Jammu Municipal Corporation alongwith team of Food Inspectors continued the drive to check the quality of food items and inspected about 85 food establishments like Milk & Milk Product Shops / Vendors, Dhabas / Restaurants, Fruit Juice Shops, Tea Stalls, Sweet Shops, Bakery shops, Cut Fruits / Sugar Canes Juice Rehries and Lassi Counters in the areas of BC Road, Hari Market, Shahidi Chowk, Rehari, New Plot, Janipur, Nanak Nagar, Digiana etc. During the inspection 11 no’s of defaulters were booked under the provisions of Prevention of Food Adulteration Act 1954 and J&K Municipal Corporation Act, 2000. An amount of Rs 4300.00 (Rupees four thousand and three hundred) was charged as fine from the defaulters and about one and half quintals of Sub – Standard Milk & Dahi, 10 Liters of Lassi, 30 Kgs of Sweets and 20 Kgs of cut fruits which were not fit for human consumption were destroyed on spot. The team also seized polythene carry bags from various food establishments in these areas.
The drive was conducted under instructions from Commissioner JMC SC Sawhney.
