| Wani expresses concern over condition of roads | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
DODA, April 29:
Senior Congress Party leader and MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani, expressed grave concern over worsening condition of R&B sector in Doda, during last one year.
Because of sub-standard works completed under R&B, CRF, NABARD, PMGSY
ERA and other such sectors in Doda, all crucial roads linking Doda District Head Quarter with remote areas have been either washed away or are in dilapidated condition.
Those responsible with execution of road construction works in Doda district seem to have even ignored the fact that, on the indicator of road length per 100 sq. kms in Doda, the PWD records show that the district has one of the lowest road densities averaging 7.77 Kms against state density of 18.12 Kms. Of total 19000 Kilometers all types of road length in 22 districts of
J&K, Doda districts, perhaps, have approximately 400 km of all types of road length.
Wani said that the people, living in far away areas, are being made to suffer due to fault of few executing agencies and the contractors in R&B sector. In Doda, being already notorious for fatal road accidents, there are apprehensions for happening of some big catastrophe.
Unfortunate inhabitants, living in far-flung areas, face hardships in shifting seriously ill patients, especially old aged, infirm and pregnant women to the district hospital; resulting in more number of deaths on way through these rickety insecure roads link. There is a feeling of resentment and anger brewing up fast in the minds of people against almost collapsed R&B sector in Doda.
