Rly station upgradation: HC directs DM to file affidavit | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 29: In a public interest litigation about the modernization of Jammu railway station and providing other facilities to passengers, high court division bench of Justice Virender Singh and Justice Hasnain Massodi today issued notice to railway authorities returnable within four weeks. The division bench also directed northern railways divisional manager (DM) to file a detailed affidavit containing information about the modernization and extension plans of Jammu railway station, if any, on anvil and details with status about the facilities, if any, available for old, infirm, physically challenged and children to cover the distance from parking area to railway platform and from one platform to another and the number of people who visited the railway station as passengers or otherwise from April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011. The affidavit should also contain information about the area of parking place(s) at the railway station for use of passengers, visitors and railway staff. The division bench also directed divisional manager to file details about that facilities like washrooms, resting places, waiting areas, if any, on all platforms at the railway station and the waiting areas, if any, earmarked for passengers, and visitors in general and old, infirm, physically challenged and children in particular outside the railway station building within the area of the railway station and directed Registry to list the PIL after four weeks.The PIL was filed by citizen forum president R K Chadha.
