Revocation of Dogra Certificate exposes communal approach of coalition govt. : BJP
4/29/2011 10:12:21 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, April 29: Lashing out at the ruling coalition for its communal and divisive policies,
the BJP Chief Spokesperson & National Executive Member Dr. Jitendra Singh has taken strong exception to the government decision to revoke Dogra Certificate order.
Dr. Jitendra Singh expressed surprise that while the National Conference led government always takes pleasure in referring to BJP as a party that plays communal and divisive politics, the fact is that it is the National Conference led government which is constantly working to divide the state on basis of religion and caste.
Dr. Singh described the decision to revoke Dogra Certificate order as a total sell-out by the
state government to the diktats of Syed Ali Shah Geelani and other separatist leaders. This is a dangerous tendency on the part of government, said Dr. Singh and warned that it could boomrang in the long run besides sending a wrong signed across the country.
On principle too, Dr. Jitendra Singh reminded that linguistic pattern that inspired the Dogra Certificate was in keeping with the spirit of Indian constitution and the same linguistic pattern had formed the basis of reorganization of Indian states after independence.
Targeting the Congress party which claimed to be a secular party, Dr. Singh said its leadership and the Revenue Minister owe it to public to explain the reasons which compelled it to revoke the Dogra Certificate order which was infact a step towards strengthening the composite culture of the state by uniting Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and all other religious of the region in the common fabric of Dogra identity.
He said that BJP will work actively with like minded groups to oppose this move.
