Niyas, Board heading for show-down, Togadia extends full support in running Amarnath yatra for 2 months | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 29: With VHP openly extending support to Baba Amarnath Yatri Niyas to run the annual yatra for complete two months as per the Hindu traditions the Yatri Niyas and Shri Amarnath Shrine Board is heading for another show down this time. The VHP which announced its full support to the Niyas in its movement to run the yatra for two months from Jesht Purnima falling on June 15 said no cut in yatra schedule will be allowed. The VHP international general secretary Dr Parveen Bhai Togadia who was on two days tour of Jammu region today made it clear that no interference in the yatra schedule will be allowed either by the Board or the Government. He made it clear that the final decision regarding the yatra schedule lies with the Hindus of the country. Dr Togadia said as Government has no right to change the date and time of the religious festivals of other communities same it can’t change the schedule of Amarnath yatra. Togadia said that in case the Government is unable to provide security to Amarnath pilgrims the VHP will deploy one lakh Bajrangis from all over the country for this purpose. The warning given by Dr Togadia and his extension of full support to yatri Niyas which has already announced to start the yatra from June 15 challenging the decision SASB to cut the yatra schedule by 15 days reveals that this year again the Amarnath yatra is at the centre of controversy. The VHP leader while justifying the decision said in case Government creates hurdles the people are ready to take the confrontation to run the yatra for complete two months. He said he has specially visited the state for this purpose and wanted to know why the Board as curtailing the yatra. When in entire country Government is promoting pilgrimage tourism why the Governor is hell bent to hit the pilgrimage tourism in J&K on the insistence of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, PDP leader Mufti Mohammed Syed and separatists. Giving a clean chit to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah he said the CM wants to run yatra for two months and provide all facilities but it is he is under constant pressure from UPA chairperson, separatists and Mr Syed. He said in case the Government is unable to make the arrangements it should quit the VHP will do the same on its own. It may be recalled that Board has cut the yatra schedule by 15 days after announcing the yatra date by June 19 instead of June 15. This has been strongly resisted by Hindu organizations including Niyas which announced to run the yatra by June 15 and start the registration from May 1. The yatra will begin from June 15 whether Governor accepts or rejects the same, said Dr Togadia who assured all assistance and support to the yatris by Niyas and VHP.
