Militancy on decline, but not over: DGP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Apr 29 (KNS): The Director General Police, Kuldeep Khoda, Friday said that militancy was on decline in Kashmir ‘but it isn’t over yet.’Khoda who was the Chief Guest on the final of Police Public T-20 Cricket Tournament 2011 played at Sport Stadium Anantnag told KNS that attempts were being made across the LoC to revive militancy in Kashmir. “Thought militancy is on decline, but it has not ended completely. We have reports that militants across LoC are ready to sneak in.”“However, Police and Army are ready to deal with the situation. We would foil their attempts,” he added. On law and order situation in the valley, Khoda said, “No one would be allowed to disrupt peace in Kashmir. Police is ready to deal with any situation.”The Inspector General Police, Kashmir Range, S M Sahi, DIG South Kashmir Range, Shafqat Watali and other senior police officers were also present on the occasion.Earlier, Khoda said that JK Police will always stand as torch bearers for providing opportunities for the youth in the fields of sports and other positive developments.The DGP awarded a cash reward of Rs 30 thousand for the winning team Tiger Cricket Club while as the runners up team FCC Khanabal was awarded a cash reward of Rs 20 thousand besides DGP gave a special prize of Rs 5 thousand for an emerging team. Khuda also sanctioned Rs 5 lacs for up gradation of sports facilities at Sports Stadium Mehndi Kadal, Anantnag.The IGP while speaking on the occasion thanked the people particularly the youth for participating in the tournaments and other programmes envisaged for garnering a cordial police public relations.
