Simula lifts Atman Premier League trophy

JAMMU, April 30: Simula XI today lifted the Atman Premier League Twenty20 Trophy outplaying the Director General of Police (DGP) XI by 25 runs in the title clash that took place at MA Stadium, here.
The final of the tournament was postponed by the organizers of the event, Police Officers and Advocates of Jammu, due to some reasons.
Earlier, after winning the toss and decided to bat first, Simula set a target of 168 runs for the loss of eight wickets, which, in reply, DGP XI could not chase and bowled out for 142 runs in 19.5 overs.
Though openers, Hilal Rather and Dhruv Mahajan, went to the pavilion with just 31 runs on the board, still Simula managed a challenging total, courtesy sixth wicket partnership of 60 runs between first class cricketers, Ram Dayal and Hardeep Singh. While Ram Dayal made 56 runs hitting six boundaries, Hardeep contributed 42 studded with five hits to the fence.
From DGP XI, Rakesh Koul and Manzoor Illahi bowled brilliant spell taking away three wickets each. Raman Dutta and Arshid bagged one each.
Later, chasing a target of over eight-run per over, DGP XI lost wickets at regular intervals and the whole side bundled-out for 142 runs in 19.5 overs. Raman Dutta (25), Rakesh Koul (23), Rajesh Gill (20) and Manzoor Illahi (20) were the main contributors. Hardeep Singh was most successful among bowlers, who clinched three wickets while Sameer Khajuria bagged two. Soumay Jain and Dhruv Mahajan as also Ram Dayal shared apiece each.
For his match winning knock of half century, Ram Dayal was declared man of the match while man of the tournament title went to Dhruv Mahajan. Naresh was named best batsman and Manzoor Illahi adjudged best bowler.
In the final and prize distribution function, Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes.
Director Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), JP Singh, IGP Jammu, Dilbag Singh and president Bar Association of Jammu, BS Slathia were guests of honour.
Speaking to the finalist teams, Kuldeep Khoda congratulated the winners and appreciated the organisors for holding the tournament.
