JKP boxer to represent AIPSCB in Fed Cup | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 30: The only gold winner for Jammu and Kashmir Police in the All India Police Meet, young Rahul Sharma has been invited to represent All India Police Sports Control Board (AIPSCB) in the prestigious Federation Cup Boxing Championship to be held at Panjim Sports Complex, Goa from May 12 to May 16. As per an invitation received by this ace boxer, top ten pugilists of the 59th All India Police Meet, held at Jammu last month, have been included in the team competing in the Federation Cup, organised by Amateur Boxing Federation of India. Rahul, who had defeated a Gazetted Officer with Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Olympian, Suresh Singh in 56 kg final for first ever gold for Jammu and Kashmir Police, was upbeat to repeat the performance. “It is a golden opportunity for me to prove myself in the prestigious Federation Cup, where only top boxers are invited to compete. I owe all credit for my success to parent department, J&K Police,” said Rahul in an interaction with Sports & Allied News, here. Hailing from remote district of Poonch, Rahul practices boxing since last five years. His major support in his journey to success is elder brother, Rohit Sharma. “What I have achieved today is due to encouragement and support from my elder brother, who practices with me,” disclosed Rahul. Also a silver medalist in All India Police Games last year, Rahul trains for five-hours in two sessions at Gulshan Ground here under the guidance of Inspector Satyakam Sharma.
