Holistic approach imperative to expedite women literacy rates: Bhalla

JAMMU, April 30:
Considering the grave situation of continued victimization of women and girl children, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla said today that Government has implemented various measures to uplift the living standard of women folk at par with men adding a network of schools and colleges has been created for promoting and accelerate women's education across the State.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing the students of Taawish College of Education (TCE) in Channi Rama at an Inter-College Symposium, Rangoli and Poster making competitions held in the college premises.
Chairman, TCE, Pooja Malhotra, Principal, Dr Raj Kumar besides teaching, non-teaching staff members, students of RM College, Atman College, Galaxay, Taawish, Beacon and Shirdee Colleges of Education were present on the occasion.
Bhalla said education of girl child on a holistic approach to expedite women literacy rates substantially and several incentive schemes have been adopted like Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Mahila Samabhya, Mid Day Meal Scheme for the purpose. He asked the parents to send their child in schools and colleges so that they could become good citizen of the country.
On the occasion, the students of the college presented a colourful cultural programme which was highly appreciated by the audience.
Later, the Minister distributed mementos among the participants of Rangoli, symposium and poster making competitions.
In Rangoli competition, first prize was awarded to Shridee College of Education whereas second and third prizes were awarded to Handa College of Education and Atman College of Education.
In poster making competition, Taawish College of Education won the first prize whereas Taawish College of Education and RM College of Education attained second and third prizes respectively.
In Symposium, Beacon College of Education bagged first prize and Taawish College of Education and Beacon College of Education bagged second and third prizes respectively.
