| Bungling suspected in distribution of relief to the Leh cloud burst sufferers | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT

Hundreds of inhabitants of the Leh were rendered homeless due to the cloud burst and after that the devastating floods which hit the Leh last year and washed off many houses in the area.
But once again the corrupt mentalities of some of the highly placed officials government were enough to misuse the funds which though were to be provided as a sort of solace to the homeless people. There was a major bungling in the distribution of the Relief-housing plot to the victims of the Leh cloud burst.
As per the information provided under RTI act filed by Caption Tehsil Chhepal (VRC) , Chief Congress Sewa Dal, it showcases that the funds have not been properly used.
Various funds were released to help the victims of the Leh after the cloud burst hit that area. Even Prime Minister of India visited Leh and announced Rs 125 crore relief packages for the victims. But Tehsil Chhepal says that he was not satisfied with the distribution of relief an so he approached the Deputy Commissioner Leh and asked him to provide the information of the beneficiaries of the relief package both under state and central government relief schemes under RTI.
As per the government decision, as a sort of relief Rs two lacs along one housing and one prefabricated hut was sanctioned for those with fully washed off houses and in case of the partially washed houses the relief amount was Rs 1 lac only.
But Tehsil Chhepal alleges that first of all information under RTI was provided with much delay and the provided information reveals that there is major bungling in the distribution of relief package.
He alleges that there are many such beneficiaries who were categorized under the fully washed houses, but the houses of those beneficiaries were not even partially washed off.
Even he has alleged that there are many such beneficiaries which don’t fall under both the categories as there was no harm to their houses in the said cloud burst but have been provided with relief.
Even he alleged that because of this bungling many people who were the real beneficiaries are suffering as there are instances where the people with fully washed houses have been put under category of partially washed off houses and even there are instances where these people have not been provided with any sort of relief, while they are the real suffers.
