`Geelani represents HM aspirations’
5/1/2011 12:36:38 AM
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Apr 30 : The Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) chief, Syed Salah-ud-Din today said Geelani’s Hurriyat represented his groups aspirations. He also denied reports of floating his own political party.
"We are playing a political role, a diplomatic role from the platform of Hizbul Mujahideen. Presently Tekreek-e-Kashmir run by Geelani presents our aspirations and our objectives," he was quoted as saying.
The HM leader went on to saying, “We support complete military evacuation from the territory of Kashmir, we support unified Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh. We do not agree to states and we do not agree to any kind of autonomy, we do not agree to LOC trade at the cost of independence of the occupied state. We stand for complete independence from Indian slavery.”
Din said the HM supports any political party just like Tekreek-e-Kashmir that stands for these goals and basic principles of talks on Kashmir core issue and complete military evacuation, we support them,” he added.
Salah-ud-Din also heads the Muzaffarabad based United Jehad Council (UJC) which is an amalgam of around ten militant organizations. He had to explain his position last year when he issued a statement on strikes. The youth torched his effigies at several places in the city.
Last year, after over a hundred deaths and months of unrest spurred by anti-India protests seeking freedom for the state largely led by the Hurriyat, the Indian government had appointed three interlocutors to find out ways and means for negotiated settlements with the Kashmir leaders for peace in the valley.
The separatists have so far mostly refused to discuss means of reaching a settlement, even suspending a senior leader from the Hurriyat Conference (G) when he sat for a meeting with the interlocutors.
