PAPA terms Panchayat election futile exercise | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 1: People’s Action and Public Accountability (PAPA) has condemned the ongoing Panchayat polls in process in the state. PAPA has termed the election as futile exercise as there was total interference from the MLAs and MLCs. In a statement, president of PAPA, Deep Singh has said that without the needed amendments in the Panchayat act the entire process is just wastage of time and resources. He further said that these elections are called non party exercise but ground realities are total reverse as almost all the members from the ruling parties are playing their possible cards without caring the norms and the district administrations also providing support to their favorite candidates. He disclosed that in Birnu Ramnagar, Sarpanch election Panthers Party’s MLA and Udhampur district administration openly supported each other. He said the Hans Raj the maternal uncle of Ram Nagar MLA as wining candidate. He stated that said that ADC Udhampur was deputed by the district administration to resolve the stalemate but he fraudulently declared Hans Raj as sarpanch-elect by adding five invalid votes. Sources reveal that Prem Nath led a deputation to the office of the D.C. Udhampur and lodged a strong protest against the foul play managed by the ADC. Feeling provoked over the developments Panther Party has officially risen in revolt and indulged in protest demonstrations and press conferences against Prem Nath and his family members. They have filed false and frivolous complaints against the employee sons and brother of Prem Nath. It is pertinent to mention here that Prem Nath belongs to SC community and is a retired teacher.
