| Zonal, Sectoral Magistrates meet held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, MAY 01- To ensure smooth conduct of 6th phase of Panchayat Election of the district in block Majalta , the District Panchayat Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Udhampur, Mr. Baseer Ahmed Khan convened a meeting of Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates already appointed in the block, here today.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Mr. Surinder Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajinder Singh, Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Mr. Gurvinderjeet Singh, Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates of the block attended the meeting.
District Panchayat Election Officer while speaking on the occasion stressed the need for better coordination between Zonal, Sectoral and Police Officers for the smooth conduct of the panchayat elections in the district. He said that each Magistrate should be well versed with the location of polling station, collection centers, route map, sector, transport and communication plans etc.
Mr. Khan asked the Magistrates to ensure that model code of conduct was not violated by any one in the process of election. He further asked them to flash reports to his office from time to time. Information regarding the start of poll, time of first vote cast, oldest person, handicapped casting votes and closing of poll be flashed at regular intervals.
The block has been divided into three zones and six sectors for smooth conduct of election in the block. A total of 25115 voters including 11762 female voters who would decide the fate of 17 sarpanches and 128 panches by casting their right of franchise. In the block 128 polling station has been setup to facilitate the voters.
