J&K govt earmarks Rs. 4.92 cr for SKUAST link road

JAMMU, May 1: Minister for Revenue Raman Bhalla today laid foundation stone of 36.50 meter span vented causeway over local nallah including road widening of approached road from Sector A to Sector-G at Sainik Colony, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 2 crore.
Bhalla said that causeway would be completed by July this year adding after completion of the project, a population of 50000 souls of Sainik Colony Sector-A, B, C, F, G, Chowadhi, Dilli Birpur, Tatnu Chak and Greater Kailash will provide road connectivity. He said that government is committed to connect every nook and corner of the State with
nearest headquarter by providing road connectivity.
Minister informed government has spent Rs. 4 crore on upgradation of link roads including blacktopping of the locality. Responding to the people’s demand, the Minister informed that a detailed project report costing Rs. 300 crore has been submitted to central government for construction of bridges, upgradation of nallah and digging of tube wells across the Gandhi Nagar constituency adding that after approval, the works would be started for the benefit of general masses.
Minister said that government has earmarked Rs. 15 lakh for construction of 1-km long surface drain in Sainik Colony Sector-B adding the project would be completed by June this year. Bhalla asked the officers to reach people and mitigate their hardships on priority basis, without any delay. He warned the officers against any laxity with regard to the solving of problems of the people adding any complaint in this regard would invite strict action against the delinquent officers/officials.
Bhalla said that Government has approved Rs. 4.92 crore for widening of Karan Bagh-SKUAST-J link road, the work on which is nearing completion. He informed that for facilitating the people of Satwari Zone, the Government has approved Rs. 3.16 crore for construction of six multipurpose community halls in the areas adding that on the completion of these, the people can arrange social as well as religious functions there on nominal charges.
