Kamal, Vishal beaten in semifinals | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 01: Young Mohit Mahajan and Ishuk Chowdhary have proved that they are the future prospects of the state after their resounding wins against senior most cueists, Kamal Rohmetra and Vishal Abrol in the semi-finals of senior snooker event of Jammu District Open Billiards and Snooker Championship underway at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here today. In the first semi-final, Mohit defeated many times state champion, Kamal Rohmetra 4-2 to find berth in the final, to be played on a later date. Mohit made a brilliant start winning two opening frames and lost the third but only to clinch the following in a one-sided game 89-09. The score: 66-45, 74-46, 32-60, 82-09, 35-61, 59-23. Later, in another semi-final, Ishuk Chowdhary trounced Vishal Abrol in marathon 4-3 game. Losing the opener cheaply 06-52, Ishuk fought back and take 2-1 lead securing two consecutive frames 61-27, 77-37. Again Ishuk lost two frames to go down 3-2. However, he controlled his nerves to clinch the thriller 4-3. The score: 06-52, 61-27, 77-27, 40-61, 38-71, 59-10, 48-35. Meanwhile, according to the organizers, the junior billiards event shall start tomorrow. In the meantime, the draws for senior billiards shall also be held tomorrow at 6 pm.
