‘Theatre of convenience’ drama fiesta awards announced | | |  Jammu: While ‘Ded Inch Upar’ took the major chunk of five awards, ‘Yatra’ and Aik Kahani Yeh Bhi’ shared three each in various categories as the results of the Odeon Odyssey’s ‘Theater of Convenience’ festival were announced here today. Amidst the galaxy of Jammu top theatre artists, directors and technicians, gathered at Chanakya Restaurant, the panel of judges comprising Sanjay Gupta and Kajal Suri declared the prizes in various categories. Himanshu Darshan took home the coveted crown of Best Actor award with a cash award of Rs 500 for ‘Ded Inch Upar’ while Neha Lahotra bagged the Best Actress award for her mind-blowing performance in ‘Yatra” and the memento and Rs 500 purse. Samooh Theatre Group won the Best Production award for “Aik Kahani Yeh Bhi” along with a memento and a purse containing Rs 1000/- while Best Director award went to Ravinder Sharma with a memento and a purse containing Rs 700/- cash prize. Second Best Production with memento and cash prize of Rs 500 went to Ded Inch Upar as Umesh Singh of Rangshala clinched Second Best Director with Rs 350 cash award. Manoj Bhat took home second Best Actor award and a cash prize of Rs 250 as no contestant fell into second best actress award category. Suneedhi Sharma impressed with her acting prowess in ‘Aik Kahani Yeh Bhi’ and clinched Jury Award for female while Santosh Sangra got special appreciation Jury Award for her performance in ‘Marakhay’. Jury Award Male award went to Rakesh Mayus for his role in “Aatanki’ by Yamini Cultural Society. Certificate of merit in acting went to Aaditya Bhanu, Dilshad Shazi, Vijay Goswami, Sushant Bhardwaj, Lucky Gupta and Sandeep Thakur. Dhanesh Dogra clinchéd merit award in direction while merit awards in sets, lighting, music, costumes and make-up were shared respectively by Vikram Khatri, Aaditya Bhanu, Rakesh Mayus, Neha Lahotra and Dr. Kamal Sharma. Vikram Sharma under whose conceptualization of ‘Theater of Convenience’ the event was organized for Shivani Cultural Society and Lakshay-the aim in collaboration with J&K Academy said that the effort was to bring all performing actors under one canopy of artistic grandeur. The chief guest Surinder Goel praised his efforts while Lalit Gupta and Ashok Sharma presided as art critics. Chanakya restaurant proprietor Shiv Kumar and Lakshay president Raveesh Mengi and Aaditya bhanu as presented vote of thanks.
