| Youth held for raping minor on pretext of marriage | | | JAMMU : A youth was Sunday arrested by police at Triyath in Rajouri for allegedly raping a minor girl on the pretext of marrying her. Police sources said Gopal Krishan and Surinder Kumar allegedly abducted a 10th class student from Taryath on April 25 and took her to Sunderbani and then to Jammu. Later, Gopal allegedly raped the 16-year-old girl on the pretext of marrying her, the sources added.Acting on the complaint lodged by the girl's parents, the Rajouri police carried out a raid in Jammu and recovered the girl.While Gopal was arrested, Surinder managed to escape. The girl was later taken to hospital for her medical examination, the sources added.
Police had registered a case in this connection.In another case, a 15-year-old girl was recovered from Pathankote in Punjab after her parents filed a complaint about her abduction.The girl was handed over to her family at Talab Tillo after her medical examination.The accused, whom sources identified as Imran Sheikh, had been arrested. |
