Polarisation between Dogras and Kashmiri leadership almost complete
DOGRA CERTIFICATE

JAMMU, May 1: Polarisation between the Dogras and the Kashmiri leadership is almost complete and the gulf between Jammu and Kashmir has, instead of being bridged, been further widened. The Kashmiri leadership is squarely responsible for creating an extreme form of bitterness and animosity between it and the Dogras and there are cogent reasons to believe that this estrangement between the two will have far reaching consequences, including the possibility of the Dogras ultimately breaking their all ties with Kashmir. In fact, one cay say with certain amount of confidence that the Kashmiri leadership has prepared the ground for the Dogras to say goodbye to Kashmir.
What has embittered further the already rather bitter relations between the Kashmiri leadership and the Dogras was the senseless opposition to Dogra certificate and contempt for the word Dogra itself. The manner in which NC leaders like Farooq Abdullah, PDP leaders like Mehbooba Mufti and others belonging to the so-called mainstream Kashmir-based organizations, including Awami National Conference, was so provocative, abusive, insulting and humiliating that it made everyone in Jammu province, barring the Jammu-based agents of the Kashmiri leadership, self-seekers and those trading the Dogra pride and self-respect for the sake of personal power and profit, believe that it would be a crime against god and humanity to even go near the Kashmiri leadership and that it would be only prudent if the Jammu Dogras snap all kinds of their ties with Kashmir and the arrogant, selfish to the core and sectarian Kashmiri leadership.
That the so-called mainstream Kashmiri leaders would term the order on the issuance of Dogra certificate as divisive, use all kinds of epithets and invectives against those who issued the said order and hail the revocation of the order was nothing but a deliberate affront to the self-respect of the Dogras, notwithstanding the fact that the withdrawal of the said order had nothing to do with the more-than-a-century-old practice of issuing Dogra certificates to those in Jammu wishing to join the Army and rendering service to the national cause. Again, that the Kashmiri separatist leadership described the revocation of the Dogra certificate order as their victory was nothing but a deliberate attempt at taunting the Dogras. The very fact that the Kashmiri separatists described the revocation of the Dogra certificate order as a victory of those fighting for the state's separation from India did expose them and their ill-intentions --- something the Dogras would surely defeat.
However, to write all this is not to suggest that the Kashmiri leadership has won. It has not won. They are simply celebrating a sham victory, as the Dogras of Jammu province continue to enjoy the relaxations they used to enjoy before March 25, 2011 as far as recruitment to the Army is concerned. The order concerning recruitment to the central paramilitary forces has been revoked and everyone in the state would now be able to enjoy relaxations in terms of height and chest width or chest expansion, but the fact remains that everyone who inhabits the Jammu province has been recognized by the Ministry of Home Affairs as a Dogra and it should be construed as a comprehensive defeat of the Kashmiri leadership and an outstanding and splendid victory of the Dogras. The Dogras of Jammu province have all along held the view that they are ethnically different from the people of Kashmir and January 11, 2011 order of the Union Home Ministry has only vindicated them and their stand.
