JKPSC supersedes all other commissions in India! | | | Syed Junaid Hashmi
JAMMU, May 1: Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) is the only high profile recruitment agency of the state in the country which keeps results secret even after being declared and whose website faces risk of crash after it makes marks cards of just 1288 candidates available for download. 2 lakh hits on the website of the commission results in PSC withdrawing the option for downloading the marks cards of recently declared KAS results. Further, PSC's efficiency can be gauged from the talk that is being heard all over the state. Few have even suggested of recommending name of the commission for being included in Guinness Book of Records for two reasons. One for making record number of appointments in a financial year and two for uploading KAS result on the website on April 17, removing it on the evening of April 26, thereafter uploading it within 4 hours and then changing the option for downloading the marks card on April 28. The option was changed, as per the officials of commission, for the sake of 'betterment' after 10 days. The technical reasons mentioned by the commission does not stand test of trial. Websites of Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) and Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) along with that of Union Public Service Commission are visited on a routine basis by more than 70 thousand people every day for results. But neither have these websites crashed nor have developed any technical error. For readers, despite 1 crore 24 lakh people visiting the website for results and other related issues, the website of Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) has neither developed any technical error nor crashed. More importantly, all these websites have been designed by National Informatics Centre (NIC). Besides, JKPSC has also created a unique history of being the only commission in the country which has highest number of court cases pending against it in various courts of the state and outside when compared on the basis of population. Interestingly, Bihar which was ranked most corrupt state of the country has brought in much more transparency in the working of its public service commission. Unlike JKPSC, Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) does not make record number of appointments in a financial year but the commission website bears testimony to the fact that process is more transparent when compared with J&K commission. Not only does the commission notify the result but also separately issues the list of selected and rejected candidates besides keeping the option of downloading the marks card available on the commission's website. One is required to type the examination roll no and the result gets displayed in a much more advanced manner then what the J&K commission does. Candidate easily finds out whether he has failed or passed. Further, availability of answer key for preliminary examinations makes the task easier for the candidates since they can easily calculate the marks secured by them and curtails probability of failures approaching the court of law. However, JKPSC does not believe in making the commission's functioning extremely transparent and has so far preferred displaying only Roll numbers of successful candidates. Results for Bihar Public Services (BPS) are displayed in such a manner that public scrutiny is both unproblematic and hassle free. Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) displays the results of KAS i.e. Karnataka Administrative Services in PDF format with break-up of marks secured by both selected and rejected candidates in different subjects. However, PSC does not mind doing this exercise |
