JAMMU, May 2: With the increasing population of stray dogs in city and it is haunting people in most areas of the city, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has decided to start campaign against the stray dogs who is haunting common masses.
It is pertinent to mention her that the stray dogs’ populations increasing day by day in the city as well adjoin areas, but the concerned authorities were not serious about this problem.
According to locals the nuisance is unavoidable for helpless people, who can do nothing but suffer without any fault of theirs. They said that some stray dogs have occupied hospitals including GMC and SMGS hospital causing immense inconveniences to the attendants and patients’.
People at large allege that due to the non-serious attitude of JMC, the population of dogs has gone up to the extent that at few places dogs have virtually ruling the streets during the night.
Mohammad Anwar of Gujjar Nagar said the school going children are more prone to attacks by stray dogs and this is worrying the parents. Sometimes, dogs chase the common people, who venture out of their homes. Children are so prone to attacks by dogs and often, parents accompany children to school fearing that they may be attacked by dogs.
When contacted JMC Commissioner SC Sawhney said that the campaigns started many times and when the stray dogs’ population increased, the department picked them and to dropped for flung areas in the city.He further said that we also continued to pick them for maintenance of the city.
