Coalition government encouraging corruption: PDP | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 3: Activists of Mahila wing of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today organized an impressive demonstration against National Conference led coalition regime for encouraging corruption and undermining integrity of the highest institutions like Assembly and Council. Mahila wing activists shouted slogans against Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and ruling National Conference for legalizing corruption and mal-practices in the State. Addressing the women wing activists, Former MlA said that since its formation the present government headed by Omar Abdullah has been encouraging corruption in the public life. She mentioned that recent Cash for Vote scam in which ruling party had brazenly purchased MLAs to ensure victory of its candidates in the Legislative Council elections was a glaring example of encouraging corruption. She said that those involved in purchasing MLAs were the main culprits for encouraging corruption in public life. Former MLA charged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah with purchasing MLAs in exchange of huge amount. “Chief Minister can not escape from his responsibility because purchasing of such a huge number of MLAs was not possible without his (Chief Minister’s) consent; she said and exhorted the party workers to expose this regime before the masses. Taking a dig at Chief Minister for not initiating any inquiry in the infamous Cash for Vote scam, she said that action taken by the BJP leadership to suspend its seven MLAs was authentication of the allegations that there was some thing fishy in the whole deal. Addressing the gathering senior PDP leader Vijay Dogra reiterated that those involved in purchasing MLAs were equally responsible in encouraging corruption so government especially Chief Minister Omar Abdullah must come clean on this whole episode. “People have reason to point finger of suspicion towards Chief Minister Omar Abdullah because being head of the State, no such deal can be struck without his consent or knowledge”, she said and asked the Chief Minister to prove his innocence in this whole scandal which has blotted the democratic history of the State.
