Stopping issuance of “Dogra Certificate” under pressure from Geelani: BJP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 3: In continuation of party’s scheduled programmes being undertaken in the state over the issue of “Dogra Certificate”, BJP on Tuesday organized massive protests at district levels at Udhampur, Reasi and R.S. Pura. The party activists also burnt the effigies of the State Chief Minister as a mark of protest against NC-Congress coalition’s total surrender before the separatists over the issue of “Dogra Certificate”. At Udhampur district president Dina Nath Bhagat led the protest held at Gole Market which was also attended by Som Raj Khajuria, Raj Kumar Buchha and Rakesh Gupta. Reasi distt president Kabla Singh led the party activists in holding protest against the NC-Congress coalition on the issue. Similarly, Jasbir Singh Lucky led the party activists at R.S. Pura holding the protest. The district Presidents in their respective district headquarters strongly criticised the NC-Congress coalition led by Omar Abdullah and the Congress-led UPA at the centre for their appeasement policy towards separatists. They said that the decision of the government to stop the issuance of “Dogra Certificate” has been taken under pressure from a separatist leader of the valley Syed Ali Shah Geelani. It has hurt the sentiments of the people of Jammu and more so insulted the brave Dogras. The issuance of Dogra Certificates in favour of all the residents of Jammu region which would have entitled them to the relaxation in the physical standards for recruitment in some Central Security Forces could in no way have resulted in harming the interests of the valley people. This certificate was being issued since last more than hundred years without any consideration of religion and had never been effecting the recruitment of valley people in the security forces of the Centre. Further it was in no way anti-Muslim or communal in nature. Opposing the enlargement of its scope is in fact communally and racially motivated and shameful buckling of the NC-Congress government to it is condemnable and depreciable. They warned the government that this agitation will be intensified if the decision is not reversed by the government.
