| Amid crisis BJP is faced with new 'Prabhari' for J&K soon | | Kohli given 'bigger role' or 'relieved' of pressure....? | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 3: Amid crisis and uncertainty over fate of 7 MLAs, fresh developments in BJP indicate change in the national leadership as far as incharge for J&K affairs is concerned. The high comamnd is likely to announce a new leader in a day or who will be appointed as new incharge (Prabhari) for J&K, replacing OP Kohli, who has been given a much more bigger resonsibility at the national level.
Sources said even as Kohli continues to be the chairman of the Disciplinary Action Committee formed to resolve and settle the matter of 7 MLAs in Jammu, he may not continue as the Prabahari of the state any more. The high command is contemplating some changes at the leadership which are going to be effected shortly, soucres said without however divulging the details. Though there have been rumours of late about the change at the level state leadership with speculations that incumbent president Shamsher SIngh Manhas is going to be replaced, the final word is yet to come in that direction, sources said adding in the same breath that high command has given strong indications that some major changes are on anvil
In a move that surprised amy and sparked fresh speculations,high command annouced 'new responsibility and role' for OP Kohli few days back which implied that he would no more be 'associated' with nor would be required to look after the affairs in J&K. Now, even if the new responsibility suggests Kohli has been promoted but the decision interestingly came at a time when the entire issue of suspension and the show cause notices as also the follow up steps related with cross voting issue remains un settled. A reason, which appears a far fetched one, put forth by some 'loyalists' say the high command has done it deliberately to assure fairness in his role as chairman of the Discplinary Action committee.
However, there are skeptcis galore within the party who are nourshing apprehensions on the contrary side, saying there was no urgency of replacing the incharge of the party at this juncture when is faced with crisis on many fronts. Sources also say the apprehensions are being nurtured that a pressure group in Delhi (national leadership) has played a key role in getting Kohli back to 'Delhi role' .. Questions are being raised that this move may linger on further, any action against the MLAs who have been suspended and served show cause notices.
Interestingly, a leader of the party wishing not to be named, while confirming a new Prabhari for the J&K soon,, dismissed this move as having any linkage with the recent developments within the party. Kohli has in fact been seeking to be relieved of the role as prabhari of J&k on health grounds for the last two months, he contended. If that is so, one wonders how he can look after a bigger role at Delhi headquarters which has now been entrusted upon him! |
