Abhinav audience treated to folk music bonanza | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 4: In the ongoing five day long musical bonanza followed by Book and Musical instruments exhibition organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, the folk artists of the Jammu region engrossed the jam packed audience of Abhinav Theatre Jammu. On the occasion R.S Chib Minister for Medical Science and Sport was the chief guest. While appreciating the performance of the folk artists he said through this folk art and culture festivals the true image and life of the people of the particular region is depicted. Folk culture refers to the lifestyle of a culture which is handed down through oral tradition it demonstrates the “old ways” over novelty and relates to a sense of community. Folk culture is quite often imbued with a sense of place. He also appreciated the efforts of Cultural Academy and congratulated the Secretary and his staffs for organizing number of cultural and literary activities for the promotion preservation of the folk heritage and encouraging contemporary and budding writers and artists. Earlier, Savita Bakshi Additional Secretary, cultural Academy in her welcome said that the objective of organizing this folk festival is to promote the folk heritage and artists as well. The main attraction of the musical bonanza today were C.S Katal & party (Dogri Folk songs), Puran Singh & party (Bhakhan) Chaman Lal Matoo & party (Sufiana) Allah Rakha Cheechi & Party (Gojri Folk Songs, Hans Raj & Party (Haran) Thoru Ram & Party (Baran) Rashpal Chanoutar & pary (Dogri Folk songs). Shamima Akhtar, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages presented vote of thanks while Jia Lal Sharma noted radio and TV artists conducted the program.
