Widespread BJP protests over Dogra certificate
5/4/2011 10:17:05 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, May 4: BJP will not allow the Congress-led UPA and the NC-Congress coalition to play with the future of Dogra youth in the state.
This was declared by party national executive member & chief spokesperson Jitendra Singh, while addressing party activists of Samba district along with state vice-president Chander Prakash Ganga, who were holding protest over the revocation of "Dogra Cerificate".
The effigy of NC-Congress coalition was burnt at Samba chowk.
Jitendra Singh, in his address, said that NC-Congress coalition is indulging in communal and divisive politics and taking all decisions depending upon diktats from separatist leaders like Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
On the other hand BJP is the only secular party which treats all the three regions of the State and religions equally, he said. He further added that BJP supports Dogra Certificate because it unites all the religions on the basis of lauguage.
He said the recent decision of the state government at the direction of UPA over the issue of Dogra Certificate has made it clear that appeasement of separatists continues to be on the agenda of both state as well as central governments. He said the party will not be a mute spectator and further intensify its protests.
He also warned the NC-Congress coalition as well as Congress-led UPA not to test the patience of Dogras.
Chander Prakash Ganga said that instead of booking Geelani and others of his ilk, the coalition government in the state has totally surrendered before separatists and the UPA is taking every such decision which proves that its Kashmir Policy is limited to appease separatists.
The practice of issuing "Dogra Certificate" has been decades old and the present Kashmir-centric coalition in the state is intentionally making it an issue and withdrawing it just to appease people like Geelani, who do not have any representative credentials and provoke the people of the valley on one issue or the other.
Kashmir Singh, Sanjeev Padha, Jangvir Singh, Shashi Pal Vaid, Amar Singh, Narsingh Dayal, Naresh Singh, Subash Bhagat, Sanjiv Sharma, Omkar Padha, Avta Singh and Tarseem Lal took part in the protest demonstration.
Jammu Mahanagar BJP district president Rajesh Gupta led a massive protest rally from party headquarters, which culminated at City Chowk, where party activists burnt the effigy of State Chief Minister. The party activists had scuffle with policemen for few minutes.
Rajesh Gupta, on this occasion said that history is witness to the fact that Dogras have always displayed bravery and made sacrifices to defeat nefarious designs of the enemies. Keeping in view their valour, physical relaxation has been granted to Dogra youth and the practice is decades old. He said that the Jammu province lacks job opportunities as the tourism, agriculture and private sector has not flourished due to the Kashmir centric approach of the government. The youth of Jammu were getting little jobs in para-military forces being Dogras but the separatists could not digest it and made it an issue.
Usha Choudhary, Surinder Sharma, Shiv Kumar Gupta, Munish Sharma, Sanjiv Gupta, Karan Singh, Bansi Lal Bharti, Aseem Gupta, Vijay Choudhary, Sureshta Jamwal, Ashwani Sharma, Sangeeta Gupta, Surinder Pargal, Dalip Gupta, Priya Jral, Ayodhya, Rakesh Mishra, Praduman Singh, Sunil Dogra, Sat Pal Choudhary, Rakesh Gupta, Kuldeep Kandhari, Vijay Sharma, Gulshan Mahajan, Dinesh Gupta, Subash Jandial, Narsingh Dass, Chander Mohan Gupta, Shub Chander Verma, Balwant Singh, Munish Khajuria, Anuradha Charak, Jeet Angral and Jaideep Sambyal took part in this protest demonstration.
Activists of Akhnoor district, led by district president Suraj Padha, assembled at Dream City and held massive protest demonstration against the decision of the UPA to direct the State government to withdraw "Dogra Certificate to the youth of Jammu and extend its benefits to the whole state.
