Militants likely to change operational strategy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 4 :- Following sacristy of man power, the militants, according to official sources have been told to change their operational strategy. “They have been told to carry out IED ,RD X and grenade blasts while attacking security pickets, convoys, political leaders and Government installations”, sources said. The police, it may be mentioned believed that the number of militants operating in Jammu Kashmir has dwindled considerably. “Till three months ago the number of active militants was around 750 to 800. Now it has decreased to 350 to 400”, the police said. A police official while giving details said around fifty militants had been eliminated during the past three months. “Many militants have either surrendered or have given up arms”, he said. Sources said the change in operational strategy was evident from the recent Udhampur blast. “Militants armed with sophisticated weapons have been brought o the launching pads”, sources said. If they succeed in sneaking into the state, they may adapt the new strategy, sources said. The troops guarding the LoC and international border have been asked to maintain strict vigil to prevent infiltration.
