| CM, ministers, MLAs should reveal their assets and all sources of income: Andrabi | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, May 4: “Ruling class of our state should disclose their assets and make public their all sources of income,” said Socialistic Democratic Party president Darakhshan Andrabi while addressing the party workers at Vijaypur today.
She said that from the Chief Minister to an MLA everybody is suspicious in the eyes of a common man in the state.
“This suspicion is because of the ongoing loot and corruption in every field of life in the state,” said Andrabi.
She said that when a common man is striving hard to earn his livelihood, our politicians in power are erecting mansions and amassing wealth and making assets beyond the comprehension of the common man.
“The majority of the bureaucrats in the state are following the footprints of their political masters and becoming richer at a pace more that that of the top business and corporate houses of the world,” said Darakhshan.
She said that this un accounted loot is taking roots in the minds of the common people of the society and on one hand it has inspired the youth to take up to the criminal and unlawful means to earn wealth and on the other it is creating a volcano within the young generation against the present political system and on its eruption, it can create a havoc. She demanded that all politicians in power from a Chief Minister to an MLA should be asked to give detailed information to the public about their all sources of income and the wealth and assets that they have build during their period of remaining in power.
She said later we can seek the same from the top bureaucrats in question. She said that it will help us in curbing the menace of corruption in the state.
“If the government fails to take note of this issue of significance and act as per her demand, I will take steps to use the RTI Act to seek the information on behalf of the distressed people of J&K,” said Darakhshan Andrabi.
She said that she and her party have vowed to initiate a crusade to expose the politicians in power who have amassed unaccounted wealth and assets. She said that she is mobilizing the intelligentsia and the respected and influential people of the society to come to a common ground for this noble cause.
“Let us change the common perception that politics means luxury. Let us show all that politics is the way of self sacrifice for common good,”said Darakhshan Andrabi.
