| LM, CAPD deptts direct for proper display of MRP on dry fruits | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, May 04: The Legal Metrology and Consumer Affairs Public Distribution departments today convened an urgent meeting of Dry Fruit Association and Hari Market Association to take stock of display of MRP on the packages of different quality of dry fruits being displayed at the trader’s premises.
Earlier, during an inspection of Hari Market by the checking squad, it was found that the traders are charging different prices at different shops and no price list is being displayed for the information of the consumers thus causing much inconvenience to the tourists.
President, Dry Fruit Association and vice president of lower Hari Market Association were directed to immediately take steps within 7 days to ensure that all the packages must bear mandatory declaration of MRP, PKD, Net Weight, address of packer along with consumer helpline number for the information of consumers.
It was further ordered that all the weighing instruments used in transactions must be certified from the department and proper display of rate list indicating prices quality wise should be ensured.
The association will ensure that a proper blue coloured board displaying telephone numbers of office bearers of Association, Deputy Commissioner Office, Legal Metrology and Consumer Affairs Department must be displayed conspicuously at the trading premises for the facility of consumers in case of any complaint.
