| NCURDS organizes science awareness mela | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, May 4: National Council for Urban and Rural Development Society (NCURDS), Jammu has organized Science Awareness Mela w.e.f 3rd May to 5th May, 2011 in which premier institutes/schools of Rajouri has participated at Govt. Middle School, Jawahar Nagar, Rajouri.
The programme is catalyzed and supported by RVPSP, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi under the guidance of Zaffar Ullah Khan State Coordinator NCSC and his team members. Various master resource persons from different states were also invited for imparting various training programme.
On the second day of Science Awareness Mela many activities and competitions were held for students and teachers like workshop on Environment and hydroponics(grow plants without soil) by Mohd. Jawaid Alam of Nature Club of India, Science behind Miracle for students and teachers by Yogesh Bhatt, Quiz competition of students for both senior and junior group and Orientation Workshop for teachers and students by all the resource persons regarding National Children Science Congress.
Also an experiment about “How to Measure the Circumference of Earth” which was done by Deepak Sharma with the students and there was an International video conferencing between students of Rajouri and France scientist namely Eric Vessiy about the Earth circumference.
The students and teachers of Rajouri cleared their doubts regarding this by asking questions to France scientist.
On the concluding day, May 5, science based drama will be played, lecture on International Year of Chemistry, Astronomy workshop, Food Adulteration and water testing workshop and again there will be a video conferencing of teachers with the France Scientist, will be held and at the end, valedictory function & prize distribution, vote of thanks will be given.
