Revocation of the new format of VAT forms soon, assures Commissioner | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 4: After having detailed discussions with the Commissioner Commercial Tax Department on 29th April 2011 wherein the difficulties and hardships which the assesses are likely to face while filing the new VAT return forms and maintaining the records as per new return forms, the Commissioner had promised us to forward our request to the higher authorities for withdrawal / revocation of new format for filing of Vat returns.
But now instead of the promise made with us the Commercial Tax Authorities are organizing awareness programme on the subject. In this connection Chamber has written a detailed letter to the Additional Commissioner Commercial Taxes, the copy of which is enclosed herewith. Chamber has failed to understand that how their concern for the new return forms has been understood by the Commissioner Commercial Taxes. We shall like to reiterate and emphasize that the new return forms are not practical especially in our state which is passing through economic hardships and the trading community is making their both ends meet with great difficulty. Trading community is of the firm opinion that the existing / current Vat return forms are sufficient and elicit the required information for the tax authorities for the purpose of tax to be deposited with the government. Chamber very earnestly appeals to the authorities that the new Vat return forms should be withdrawn to facilitate the smooth operation of business in our state.
