| CGPWA held annual general body meet | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 4: Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association(CGPWA), J&K, Jammu was held here at Jammu Club today with Prof.Nilamber Dev Sharma, an eminent educationist, littérateur and social activist as the Chief Guest.
About 70 CGPWA members attended the AGM; besides a good number of special invitees comprising distinguished senior citizens and social activists. J.K.Vaid, General Secretary of the Association conducted the proceedings and also presented the Annual General Report for the year 2010-2011 before the house.
S.S.Wazir, President in his welcome address greeted the Chief Guest, special invitees and the members fraternity and briefly touched upon the welfare activities being pursued by the Association in service of the civil society, in general and the pensioners and their families, in particular.
V P Sharma, Patron CGPWA and former Director Geological Survey of India, gave an illuminating power point presentation on the theme: ‘Voluntary Organizations in Service of Civil Society’ focusing on the commendable work being carried out by nearly 10 such Organizations who are proactively engaged in voluntary social and charitable work since 1970s and 1980s.
In consonance with this theme, the Association honoured, by presenting shawls and citations on their contributions, 8 prominent Organizations/Personalities for their distinguished services in education as well as social service fields..
Triennial elections of the Association for the term 2011-2014 were also held and all the previous office bearers were re-elected unanimously..
