| Udhampur Sport Climbing meet on May 7 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 04: Organised by Mountaineering Association of J&K in collaboration with Sprawling Buds School, Chinore the 7th Udhampur District Sport Climbing Championship shall take place on May seven.
About 150 boys and girls drawn from various institutions of Udhampur district are likely to compete in the said event.
The competition shall be held on the 40 ft high Tenzing Norgay wall in the campus of Sprawling Buds School following the international rules. However, all the participants shall climb with the `top rope’ in the first round and `lead climb’ in the subsequent rounds, general secretary of the Association, Ram Khajuria told SAN.
Whereas competition in `lead climbing’ as well as `speed climbing’ shall be held in four categories of men and women (born in 1994 and earlier) boys and girls (born in 1995, 1996 and 1997), the participants in the sub junior boys and girls categories (born in 1998 and after) shall be eligible for `lead climbing’ only.
The competition is open to all climbers belonging to Army, Police, para military forces, adventure organizations and students of various colleges and schools in Udhampur district. Entry fee is Rs.100 which includes lunch and refreshment to the participants and their escorts. On spot registration shall also open at Sprawling Buds School, Chinore from 8am to 8.30 am on May seven.
