Kashmir too a sanctuary for terrorists & zealots | Blaming Pakistan | | STARK REALITY RUSTAM EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 4: Referring to the mastermind of 9/11 US terror attack Al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden's killing in an US operation "deep inside Pakistan" on May 2, New Delhi said: "This fact underlines our concern that terrorists belonging to different organisations find sanctuary in Pakistan. We believe that the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attack, including the controllers and handlers of the terrorists who actually carried out the attack, continue to be sheltered in Pakistan". It also said: "After the September 11, 2001 terror attack, the US had reason to seek Obama Bin Laden and bring him and his accomplices to justice". New Delhi also took this opportunity to ask Pakistan to arrest and bring to justice all those involved in the Mumbai terror attack. "We once again call upon the Government of Pakistan to arrest the persons whose names have been handed over to the Interior Minister of Pakistan as well as provide voice samples of certain persons who are suspected to be among the controllers and handlers of the terrorists," New Delhi said. Besides, New Delhi said: "We take note with grave concern that part of the statement in which (US) President (Barack Husain) Obama said that the fire fight in which Osama Bin Laden was killed took place in Abbotabad deep inside Pakistan ". Everyone in India and the world would endorse the line New Delhi adopted while responding to the liquidation of the most wanted terrorist Osama. For, Pakistan is indeed a sanctuary for all varieties of terrorists. There is no doubt it. Everyone knows that Pakistan is an epicenter of global terrorism, that it is exporting terror into India and other parts of the world and posing a live danger to the world peace, that terrorism is an integral part of Pakistan’s foreign policy and that Pakistan is in the hands of those who have been working in tandem with dreaded terrorists like Hafiz Saeed and horbouring terrorist organisations like Laskar-e-Toiba, Jash-e-Mohammad, a Talibani group and so on. Hence, the Indian response has to be viewed in this context. But the question is: What is it that New Delhi has been doing to take on and eradicate terrorists who have been roaming about freely in Kashmir since decades and instigating and inciting the gullible and emotional Kashmiri Muslims to rise in revolt against India, take the law of the land into their hands, attack the symbols of the Indian State and bloody and convulse the state’s socio-religious and political scene at regular intervals. Again, the question is: What is it that New Delhi is doing to take on and isolate those in the political establishment in the state who have been giving overt and covert support to the separatists and extremists in Kashmir? The answer to these two straight questions is also simple and straight. The answer is that New Delhi has not done anything whatever to rein in, isolate and bring to justice all those involved in the ongoing anti-humanity and anti-India struggle in Kashmir. Nor has it taken any action whatever against those elements in the state’s political establishment who have been, instead of discharging their constitutional obligations and defending and promoting further the paramount national interests in Kashmir, directly and indirectly helping those in Kashmir who have been dancing to the tunes of Pakistan and meticulously and with single-minded devotion subverting the Indian polity with a view to establishing in the state a system similar to the one the Talibanis want to establish across the world. In other words, New Delhi has singularly failed to rein in even a single person in the terrorist and separatist-infested state who has been seeking to break and dismember India. The worst part of the whole situation has been that there are elements in the Indian political establishment who are, like certain undesirable elements in the state’s political establishment, giving their overt and covert support to the Kashmir-based terrorists and fanatics, who are also being ably backed and supported by Islamabad. It is hardly necessary to name these Kashmir-based terrorists and fanatics. Everyone knows them. Everyone knows that they are only handful and that they are surviving and thriving only because of New Delhi and its highly questionable agents in Kashmir. Everyone also knows it that Kashmir, like Pakistan, is also a sanctuary for all varieties of terrorists and zealots. The truth, in short, is that New Delhi is, instead of eradicating subversion and communalism, only marginalizing, demoralising and despising the nationalist constituency in the state. New Delhi cannot go on like this. It must force Pakistan to bring to justice all those involved in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. It can even take recourse to hot pursuits, including a firm action against them deep inside Pakistan as the United States did to demonstrate its national resolve against the menace of terrorism. International laws do permit hot pursuits in extraordinary situation. But, at the same time, it has to take a definite action against those in Kashmir as well who caused umpteen 26/11s in Jammu and Kashmir and who have been, like Pakistan, conspiring against India and the Indian political system. Handle and eradicate subversives and zealots in Kashmir and promote the nationalist constituency in the state if you sincerely wish to handle and defeat Islamabad. This is the only alternative. In fact, this is the historical necessity.
