Two political parties approaching SC over KAS selections | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 4: Two prominent political parties are approaching Supreme Court of India with writ petitions seeking quashing of the results of combined civil services (CCS) examination 2009 released recently by Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission. Spokespersons of both the parties with a request for keeping names of parties they belong to secret till the filing of writ petition rang up Early Times and confirmed that they are approaching court of law. “We are not against any region but if so many young people are raising fingers at this selection, we have no choice but to be their voice and approach Supreme Court of India for knowing the reality behind these allegations,’ said spokesperson of one particular political party. He added that JKSPC should have kept the entire process transparent which they did not. “They should not be hesitant in sharing the information with the commoners with what led to several meritorious students falling to the bottom and those in the bottom reaching to the top. We have nothing personnel against anyone,” added the spokesperson. Similarly, a top ranking leader of another premier political party expressed deep displeasure over the Chief Minister’s continued silence over the issue. “Being Chief Minister, he should not dismiss newspaper reports as not based on facts. He should take up the issue with JKPSC and seek an explanation which he has not done so far. Non-serious at a time when institutions are being damaged for personal reasons is likely to be catastrophic for the coalition government,” added the leader. He confirmed that their party has prepared a detailed account of state government’s continued silence over the damage of the institutions and would be submitting it to UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and the Union Minister for Home Affairs P.Chidambram soon. “Institutions should not become political rehabilitation centers. We have to do justice with every section of the society in Jammu and Kashmir,” said the leader. He too said that court of the law is the last remedy of correcting the wrongs being done by institutions which should act as epitomes of Justice. |
