Sharma discusses BJP’s party position in Kashmir
5/5/2011 10:34:20 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, May 5: BJP State General Secretary Sat Sharma , who is on 3-day
tour of Kashmir, chaired a meeting of district presidents, district
incharges and block presidents at Rajbagh office of the party.
Sat Sharma discussed the present situation of the party in Kashmir. He
said the NC-Congress coalition government has totally failed to come
upto the expectations of the people of the state. High claims of
development and welfare of the masses are being made but the ground
realities are entirely different.
Not even a single day passes when there are reports of protests,
dharna, agitation, hunger strikes, police lathicharge.
People are seen on roads protesting against irregular supply of
drinking water, imposition of long power cuts, non availability of
water for irrigational purpose, Women, employees, unemployed youth,
pensioners are on dharnas for fulfilment of what they deserve and have
been deprived by the government.
Sharma said that it is unfortunate that the coalition government
headed by Omar Abdullah is working as per the wishes of Hurriyat
Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani and it seems as the government is run
by separatists and not by the elected representatives.
Cancellation of Dogra Certificate is the glaring example of
pro-separatist and appeasement policy of the state as well as
Congress-led UPA government. It is injustice with the Dogra youth of
Jammu province. We have launched state-wide protests on the issue and
warn the state government to desist from surrendering before the
people like Geelani and treat all the religions and regions equal, he
said.
Sharma further said that the people of Kashmir in general have
rejected the ideology of separatists and are not in favour of stone
pelting, hartals, bandhs etc. at the call of separatist leaders who
take the people of valley for granted. He said record turn out in
Panchayat elections in Kashmir prove that the youths of Kashmir want
development and employment.
The meeting was also addressed by Dr. Ali, Altaf Thakur, Sheikh
Bashir, Mohd. Tahir, Mohd. Ashraf Reshi, Manzoor Ahmad Kulgami and M.M
War.
