Farmers of Nowshera and Sunderbani, an aggrieved lot | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 6: Ravinder Sharma-MLC, General Secretary and Spokesperson JKPCC has said that the farmers of Nowshera and Sunderbani have suffered a great loss to their vegetable and wheat crops due to recent rain and hail storm and asked the government to assess the loss and provide relief to the farmers. Sharma who visited the area a day before appraised about the condition of the farmers and said that the farmers have suffered huge losses in those areas. The recent hail storm and rains have damaged the crops especially the wheat crop and the vegetables. Even the farmers alleged that seeds supplied by the government were of low quality and the productivity of those seeds was not good. Sharma urged the government to provide relief and ex-gratia to the framers in order to compensate the losses. Sharma even reviewed the scenario of the drinking water in those areas. He met the officials of PHE department and requested them to engage more water tankers in both tehsils. He also reviewed the work on filtration plant at Beri-Pattan and Tata-Pani, commissioning water supply scheme at Bajora, Banigala and Sobra ( Gatari-Tandar). He asked for immediate commissioning of completed projects and expediting the work of ongoing projects besides, digging of more tube wells, dug wells etc as the area is most effected.
