| South Kashmir people to carry lantern at night | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, May 6: District Magistrate Pulwama has urged the people to restrict movement at night. In an order issued yesterday, he has appealed the people to carry lantern or torch if movement becomes inevitable.
The order has been issued to minimize civilian casualties due to mistaken identity. Similar instructions have been issued to people in North Kashmir especially in Kupwara, Bandipora and rural Baramulla. The security agencies enforce night curfew strictly in these areas.
More than 20 people had died when security forces opened fire due to mistaken identity in the Kashmir valley during the past one decade. Majority of these killing took place in the frontier district of Kupwara.
