| Sahai inaugurates cricket tourney in Kargil | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, May 6: The Inspector General Police Kashmir range, S M Sahai inaugurated Shaheed Zulfikhar Ali Cricket memorial cup 2011 at Khree Sultan Choo Stadium Biamathang Kargil on Thursday.
The event is being organized by District Police Kargil under civic action programme of J&K Police.
Sahai who was the chief guest on the occasion said that J&K police has initiated such sports events in every district of the state. “These events will give impetus to our efforts to reach out to the youth besides offer an opportunity for them to hone their talent in positive developments,” he said.
In the tournament 56 teams from all the blocks of Kargil district are participating and on the inaugural function all the players of the 56 teams participated in the opening ceremony.
On the occasion Incharge LAHDC, Chief Executive Councilor Haji Ghulam Amir, Brigadier 121 (I) infantry Brigade S M. Sawahney, MLA Zanskar Feroz Zanskar Khan, Executive Councilor for Works and Power Ghulam Rasool Naqvi, Deputy Commissioner Kargil M Raju, SP Kargil, Javid Iqbal Matoo and other district officers and prominent citizens were present.
The IGP later held a Durbar of jawans at District Police Line Kargil and urged them to work with zest and zeal in cooperation with the public for peace to prevail in the state.
