Indian troops told to foil ingress bids at any cost

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 6:
Troops, guarding the LoC and the IB in Jammu and Kashmir, have been directed to be on high alert so that the plan of the Pakistani Army to push many groups of militants into the state was foiled.
These instructions, according to official sources, were issued after the Pakistani troops opened RPG and mortar fire on Indian border outposts in Poonch sector on Thursday.
Sources said that the RPG and mortar fire was part of the plan of the Pak agencies to provide fire cover to the militants who had been brought on the launching pads across the LOC.
Sources said that the troops have been told to retaliate effectively any ceasefire violation by the Pakistani forces who had become desperate because of their failure to facilitate infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir by groups of militants.
Reports said that during the last one month the Indian troops foiled as many as 10 infiltration bids.
Another instruction issued to the Indian troops was that they should carry out sustained search operations in all the border belts that kiss the no man's land so that not a single militant, who had managed to enter into the Indian territory, succeeded in carving out a hideout.
Reports said that senior Army functionaries in the Northern command have been told that in case they felt the need of deploying additional companies of troops on the LOC and the IB they should not hesitate or delay.
“The infiltration of militants to be checked at any cost,” This is the terse instructions to the Indian troops guarding the border in Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources said that agencies across the border had become desperate over marked decline in the militancy related activities and violence in Jammu and Kashmir during the last six months.
They believe it is the result of loss of manpower following elimination and arrest of a score of top commanders of militant outfits, especially those belonging to Lashkar-e-Toiba and Hizbul Mujahideen, during the last five months.
Sources said that after the establishment in Pakistan felt embarrassed by the killing of Osama bin Laden in the US strike at Abottabad near Islamabad, it has decided to divert peoples' attention from the Osama issue to the border conflict in Jammu and Kashmir. Hence the troops have been directed to foil the Pak mischief.
